From Liz Still, who snapped these photos on the spot: A baby red shoulder hawk was blown out of the nest yesterday. Janny Wurts was brave enough to renest it (35 feet up) with the help of retired fire fighters Bill Still and Dick Hitchcock on the belay, and husband Don Maitz steadying the base of the ladder. (Don is seen with Janny in the background, pre ascent, helping tie the nestling - slung in a pillowcase by the informed advice of experienced raptor rehabbers - to Janny's belt loop.) Yea to the bird team! The hawk parents were not disturbed in the least and have resumed duty feeding their reunited two nestlings.
