Ah, at last...a string of small deadlines DONE.

Two short stories, one painting.

The painting should appear in the gallery, at some point.

I just have a little polish work to do on the second short story draft, and THEN - back to Stormed Fortress...

One painting? Two short stories?

Well, I guess I should be the one to start the river of drool...

[Sounds of gushing water, and a large woman yelling, WAY TO GO JANNY!!]

I know you really enjoy your work Janny but how on earth (or Athera) do you get so much of it done???

So with the pleasant distractions of DragonCon, your painting and two short stories almost over are you itching to get back to the main event or do you prefer the smaller projects?

Also could you fill us in on how far into SF you are (a % would do). It's just that every time you mention your progress it seems as if the chapters are flying out daily! Sounds like this book is going to be another belter! Here's Hoping.

Happy writing Janny (is there any other kind?!?)

OOPS! Stepping back... offers Janny a drool-proof container for each item with abashed little grin. :-O

nathan - first off, because I do enjoy it...!!!

and next, because it is a requisite quality of professional attitude. You accept a thing, you do it. There isn't room in the arts for slackers.

And it's now official, I am back on the novel, which is at its pivotal (halfway) chapter. After this point, I have very very tight notes, so it will, I hope, fly like crazy from here.

For tonight, however, a beer and a DVD movie, to relax and sigh with enjoyment after another deadline, well met!

And tomorrow, erg, shop for bathtub fittings. How ordinary can you get? One day the day, the drains...grin.

I replaced my kitchen faucet. I'd be happy to attempt your bathtub fitting if you need extra help so you can write. :-)

Susan - appreciate the offer, but - this is a bit more than a faucet. The master bath is being ripped to studs....well, in process of. Don did tub demolition last we have to buy all new fittings. The in goes a nice jet tub & new shower.

New water saving pot, ordered. Sink, already here, in marble. Cool. Vanity - drawn out but not commissioned....floor pattern - drawn, slate about to be it's a major job.

We've been planning it well over a year.

Deadlines caught up. Errands done. nothing on list (except growing grass....lawn needs it again, but that's later today)

New board gessoed for another painting.

Hans Zimmer on the cd (Soundtrack from Black Hawk Down, which has lots of variation, and even, track 3 may have been inspiration for Firefly's theme; at least there are tonal and instrumental similaries - neither detracts from the other)

And - a chapter scene underway - let's see what makes Sidir tick...hmmmm?

Ah, the subtle sadism of creating artists ;-)

Good luck on the bath tub!

The image of that painting is now available for viewing in the Gallery: Portfolio section of the webpage.

The new picture, would it be Moonlight Frolic?

And would those, by any chance, be honest to goodness Riathans on the beach?

:-O :-O :-O :-O :-O :-O

Five grins up, even if they don't happen to be Riathans!

What a great painting.. those are serious horns.. if they are Riathan Paravians then if Dakar's vision holds true, that's a very nasty spike heading Arithon's way..

I'm assuming this is just after dusk given the red tinges in the clouds from the recently departed sun and crescent moon..

And I thought it was only iyats that rode wave crests.. clearly not..

Beautiful-that says it all to me. Seeing it online is awesome, but I want to see it in person. I can only imagine the texture it must have. I particularly love the perspective-my eye was drawn from right to left-going over the beauty of the Riathan before my eye was caught by the moonlight on the water up to the crescent moon. As I gaze upon the picture, I imagine the sound of the sea and the smell of the salt in the air.
Janny: Your artwork deeply moves me. Thank-you for sharing it with us.

Beautiful creatures, Riathans or not. I like the overall color scheme. Interesting placement and positioning of horns. I'd think it would take some effort to get that horn pointed at someone, compared to the 'usual' unicorn horn placement.

Oh wow! Now how do I buy a reprint?

By Janny Wurts on Tuesday, October 25, 2005 - 10:47 am: Edit Post

hmmmmmm, pre storm preparations, where was I....

ah, yes.... the last drafted sentence ran thus:

"If my liege should lose the hard edge off his tongue, by that sign you should know he's endangered...." -- Sidir

....and so to resume, on a cold, (for us! I had to break out the socks!) sunny Tuesday...

Cold here too. ABout 1/2" of snow on the grass this morning. Made it into the lower 40's in Pittsburgh but only upper 30's out here where it's still spitting snow mixed with a little rain.
