Auna: YES!

Janny: :-) I have indeed seen the study pic also - would love to visit your sanctum one day!

At this point I'd risk the claws to snatch the stack. Ooh but the cat could hold it hostage cause I surely wouldn't want it shredded.

It's rather frightening to see a stack that thick. I think the most I ever wrote and printed out was an eleven page paper in high school on black holes, lol.

9 main is tapped out. The number of threads in convergence here is a Holy Cow moment....You will have no idea, because in some sense, I had no idea.

It's off the cliff into the deep waters at this stage, because some of the whopping reveals of the series are going to out in these final chapter sets.

Draft Page Count is 673, and it's gonna kite up fast, from here, because all of the painstaking, nit picky set up is in place, ready to ROCK AND ROLL!

Sounds good to me. Do you know yet Janny, how many chapters Destiny's Conflict will have?

I get to read it for Christmas 2015 I will be happy.

By Janny Wurts on Saturday, July 19, 2014 - 07:50 pm: Edit Post

Now way to know till I get there.

Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Staring off the cliff - here comes the plunge! (heh, they have no idea what's coming)

By Auna on Friday, August 01, 2014 - 06:09 pm: Edit Post

May it be a swift plunge to a finished book. I'm really looking forward to these wondrous things that we have no idea of :-)

By Annette on Friday, August 01, 2014 - 08:34 pm: Edit Post

I expect big things from a lot of the main characters, especially Arithon, Lysaer and Elaira.

*Sighs*

Not having anything to do with Facebook has its drawbacks, to be sure.

*Brightens*

I like plunges...

*Grips rail of rollercoaster and balances on balls of feet in anticipation*

I'm rereading the series (not sure hoe many times) and can't wait for this one to come out.

By Judy on Monday, August 04, 2014 - 05:41 pm: Edit Post

There are so many threads that could go so many different ways, my guesses keep changing depending on which foreshadow was the last I pointedly paid attention to :-)

I'm with Mark, yet I don't think I'm missing much on the grand scale. Face Book seems like a colossal waste of time that I could spend paddling a canoe.

Or reading WoLaS...note I didn't say RE-reading...

That is about as ham-fisted a hint as I can make.

By Janny Wurts on Tuesday, August 05, 2014 - 09:44 am: Edit Post

The Facebook fan page really isn't a time sink; it just posts updates and announcements and the occasional insightful picture (or preview of art in the making) - you can view it by URL and not have to be a 'member' of FB.

The same announcements go up here, they just aren't 'adorned' with photos or extras.

So far there are no discussions or conversations there. If there were they would be driven by readers, and actually, more people would see such things in an outside forum that had a wider general readership. Dedicated forums only get seen by dedicated readers - general threads in general forums bring in new eyes.

But Facebook is trying to take over the world!!! Truly, it is the Koriani of the modern age...insidious.

By Janny Wurts on Tuesday, August 05, 2014 - 02:57 pm: Edit Post

Draft page 700!

By Clansman on Tuesday, August 05, 2014 - 03:04 pm: Edit Post

I think that this would be an apt response to this news:

WOOT!

Clansman,

But Facebook is trying to take over the world!!!

Just like every other big corporation.

Thanks for the update Janny. Nice to hear 700 draft pages reached, now if only I had them in my hands to read! But those last 23 pages seemed to fly, maybe the rest will yet.

For 1000 pages do we get a glimpse of a page or two for Christmas?

I to am another who has no intentions of falling for Facebook, but I still go and grab anything on offer on the fan page. No harm in looking, I am just unlikely to ever sign up, I have enough obsessions to deal with.

Hehe, what's the word count Janny? :-)

By Mark Stephen Kominski on Saturday, September 13, 2014 - 11:52 am: Edit Post

Assuming you have recovered from DragonCon (which one of my staff members got to go to and participated in the parade[considerably farther back than you were, Madame Tailspinner], but which I AGAIN could not attend...think I'm just a little envious???!!!), thought I'd inquire as to that 1000 page mark? ;-)

By Janny Wurts on Saturday, September 13, 2014 - 03:58 pm: Edit Post

I am starting ten set - and the book had better be shorter than 1000 pages (draft) when the full count is done.

By Annette on Saturday, September 13, 2014 - 06:49 pm: Edit Post

Were not the last two books bit over 1000 draft pages before polish? Something about the same or a bit longer would be nice.

By Gill on Sunday, September 14, 2014 - 02:05 am: Edit Post

Poor Janny. Here we are pestering you for speed and length of the next book. Just know we'll be grateful for anything as I for one am worried about Arithon

By Mark Stephen Kominski on Sunday, September 14, 2014 - 11:30 pm: Edit Post

*Grins*
You'll not find me complaining if the book is more than 1000 pages in its FINAL version.

By Auna on Monday, September 15, 2014 - 04:58 am: Edit Post

The latest book I read was 816 pages and took me 17 hours. That's 17 hours of being transported to another world, and it was wonderful. I love long stories that immerse me like that.

So bring on the 1000+ page book! As long as they are available on the Kindle, I no longer have to worry about getting a hernia from wielding these weighty blunt instruments of torture like the days of old.

By Sleo on Monday, September 15, 2014 - 09:18 am: Edit Post

Amen to that!!!

By Neil on Monday, September 15, 2014 - 09:47 am: Edit Post

By my reckoning on this thread:-
02/05/2011 1
06/03/2012 190
28/03/2012 201
19/05/2012 251
09/06/2012 280
03/10/2012 350
12/11/2012 398
12/01/2013 440
09/02/2013 473
14/03/2014 600
05/08/2014 700

My estimates ?! ;-)
31/03/2015 850
31/05/2015 900
30/06/2015 925
31/07/2015 950
31/08/2015 975

I seem to recall a couple of times Janny has posted by surprise chapter one during my summer holidays so I will hope for next summer :-) ?

By Annette on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 - 03:32 am: Edit Post

I am hoping Janny finishes the first draft a bit faster than that estimate, but you never know.

By Julie on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 - 12:29 pm: Edit Post

I am really hoping for another sneak peek!!!

By Mark Stephen Kominski on Wednesday, October 01, 2014 - 12:31 am: Edit Post

Uh oh, awful quiet in here. Time to make some noise.

*Goes into snippet lab and readies irritants-I-mean-instruments*

By Judy on Wednesday, October 01, 2014 - 05:20 pm: Edit Post

I think of it as not disturbing Janny so she can write faster (hopefully!!)

By Annette on Wednesday, October 01, 2014 - 06:08 pm: Edit Post

Janny will shortly be appearing at Archon 38 as Toast Mistress http://archonstl.org/38/

So might be taking a break from writing for the rest of the week.

By Auna on Friday, October 03, 2014 - 07:33 pm: Edit Post
