Just received our 'Definitive Edition' of Kingdom of Heaven. A quick whiz through the first few chapters shows a lot more depth to the story. I hope it's as good as erm.. I hope it's as... oh bum, I just hope it's good.
Having Orlando to look at for a bit longer can't hurt either.
xxxx to all
Yep, Orlando's REALLY easy on the eyes - drool!! - I just wish whoever is managing him can start coming up with decent roles for him. I love him as Will Turner, but Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow has stolen every scene in Pirates of the Caribbean.
Just wondered has anyone seen Pirates 3 yet? Hoping to see it very soon. Can't wait, Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp dressed as swash buckling pirates I am swooning already. Orlando was cute In Lord of the Rings. Well I thought so anyway.
Going to the theater tomorrow night with my brothers for the midnight show... yes, I AM that much of a geek
Got the tickets this afternoon.
If I could I would also be at the first showing at our local cinema however 2 babes prevent that from happening. You'll have to do a review if you get a chance love to know if it's living up to the hype. Hopefully going next sat think I have sorted out nanny and gramps to look after the children. Can't wait (i'm also very sad!!)
Well, it is somewhat confusing, but that is because there is so MUCH going on. My brothers and I agree, that when it comes out on DVD, that it will bear multiple viewings to get everything straight.
There are plots within plots, within betrayals, within double crosses within ultimate plans - whew!
Be warned, that it is also 3 hours long!
Looking forward to it!
Blue forgot to ask is it good or bad seems to have very mixed reviews? 3 hours is fine I think the LOTR was about that loved those films as well husband hates them at least he likes pirates.
Well, it seems it will take more than one viewing to take it all in - I enjoy pirates myself (thanks to a ride on PotC when we went to Disneyland when I was about 3)
Lots of action and adventure, but sometimes, it seemed to get a little bogged down with EVERYTHING they were trying to do. However, it did pick up, and end on a satisfactory note. The scene with Keith Richards was a hoot - they did not say OPENLY that his Captain Teague was Jack's father, but the hints were there.
I liked the resolution between Will and Elizabeth, which had a bittersweet tinge to it. The best little portion of THAT is right after the end credits, so cross your legs a little harder and don't leave the theater right away!
Jack's last scene was pure Jack Sparrow - pure mischief. I especially liked him uncorking the bottle of rum, and singing his favorite portion of "A Pirate's Life For Me". Something I could easily see Arithon doing, though he would be sharing that rum with Elaira, who might duet such a song with him.
The movie was 3 hours long, but what's wrong with an epic length flick now and then?
The only real gripe I had was the accent of the Tia Dalma character. Just as in Dead Man's Chest, I had a hard time understanding her, and she is not exactly a minor character. Of course, considering I have never known anyone with her accent - Cajun? Creole? Other? - does not mean that the actress did poorly in her role.
We can't resist pirates in my house either! It was a long movie but very entertaining - the small references to the Disney ride in the movie crack me up! (I live near Disney and spent way too much time on the Priate ride when my son was young! Yohoyoho) I had trouble with the accent too! It takes a couple of minutes to process what she says. Just have to go again I guess...I didn't know to wait for the credits to go by and my legs couldn't get any more crossed! Thanks for the tip!
Anything else out there worth watching?
