Anything or anyone would be welcomed by me.

By Janny Wurts on Friday, May 16, 2014 - 09:19 am: Edit Post

You are going to get both Davien and Daliana in Ch 1....the problem: MASSIVE SPOILER THEREIN....anything I show from that scene, or anything I show later will unveil that development.

By Annette on Friday, May 16, 2014 - 04:27 pm: Edit Post

If it is just that Lysaer marries Daliana, I would not consider that a really big spoiler for those who read Initiate's Trial.

And me, I am not worried about spoilers anyway, and we could use something to discuss. But if you do not want to reveal the future, how about a glimpse at the past and Jeynsa?

By Julie on Sunday, May 18, 2014 - 02:12 pm: Edit Post

Lysaer cannot be a real husband to anyone let alone Daliana until he is rid of the curse. So Daliana and Davien will set the stage for the next book?

How about a character we haven't heard from in centuries such as Kevor?

By Mark Stephen Kominski on Monday, May 26, 2014 - 09:33 am: Edit Post

Kevor's a good choice. I could also see him as quite a spoiling cog, and therefore somewhat snippet-resistant. Kharadmon, perhaps?

By Auna on Monday, May 26, 2014 - 11:10 am: Edit Post

I just did a squee at the thought of both Davien and Daliana in the first chapter.

Many books have excerpts from the first chapter in the next book so I'm not actually worried about spoilers in that section since that's the first thing we'll read when we get the actual book. It could spark tons of speculation that could keep us occupied until the book is actually released.

I would be a bit more concerned about any later snippets revealing spoilers because that might get too spoiler-y as you start reading the actual book and play connect the dots with the known snippet.

I definitely prefer ch 1 or later snippets with no possible spoiler info in them. Of course I'll enjoy anything that gets tossed my way in the agonizing wait for the actual book.

So do we get a tasting soon?

By David Cornelson on Thursday, June 05, 2014 - 12:02 pm: Edit Post

Tap tap tap...waiting...

By Janny Wurts on Thursday, June 05, 2014 - 01:42 pm: Edit Post

Wrapping up a difficult scene, finalized by the lightbulb moment, yesterday....this one took about SIX DIFFERENT TAKES, each one discarded; this is convergency. It ALL has to count, and the pacing and tension are paramount.

The last thing I want at this point is sag - either in content, or interest.

I am probably tap tap tapping harder than any. Go listen to the new audio books' teaser clips (each first chapter is 30 minutes or so). These are AUDIE WINNING NARRATORS, top of the field - shouldn't be too excruciating.....

> Master of Whitestorm, narrated by Simon Prebble
> Sorcerer's Legacy, narrated by Emily Gray

You know that at all times I would rather you be writing than anything else. If and when an excerpt comes out, we all will cheer. But when the book comes out, watch out. World wide celebration and much lost sleep.

Janny, any chance on an update on what chapter you are up to?

By Janny Wurts on Thursday, June 05, 2014 - 07:43 pm: Edit Post

Annette: nine set.

BTW - It's been a blast trading bard's barbs with Janny on Twitter - especially getting through this last chapter set!

Just when you think you've read it all
Along comes a master of fantasy lore.
Nothing compares to this wondrous tale
Natty and noble and epic in scale!
Your heart will be tested, your mind blown-away
With swordfights and sorcery, love and dismay.
Unknown to us all is the road to be taken
Reckoning, reason, and assumption mistaken.
Time will reveal the fate of the ages
Soon to be set in hardcover pages.

I would love to see Kevor back in the game, though are we sure he has survived the time lapse? I can't remember whether or not the ardents have extended lifespans...

By Julie on Monday, June 09, 2014 - 11:41 am: Edit Post

So that is three for Kevor! I got the impression that the Adepts do (can) have extended life spans. There are not very may of them and the sanctuaries that still existed were very old. We heard nothing about them in the last book.

Janny- can you shed some light?

By Janny Wurts on Monday, June 09, 2014 - 12:45 pm: Edit Post

Julie, you asked:

I'd refer you to two scenes:

Sethvir's conversation with the adept at Althain Tower in subchapter of III, Fugitive Prince.

And Asandir's encounter with the adept who (nearly) broke covenant in ch V of Traitor's Knot.

Figure it out.

Hello janny & Co. Thought it was time that I registered. I've been lurking here for years, following the upates etc.
My wife and I are big fans of your books and like everyone else here, I imagine, eagerly await the new one.

Hi Dean Gee and Wife - Welcome Here! Lovely to have you.

By Annette on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 - 06:21 pm: Edit Post

When Kevor was restored in Peril's Gate, his adept guide told him he would have plenty of time, all the days left to the world if he wished.

But still Ath's adepts do not involve themselves in the doings of men or kingdoms, and just being around to shine so bright is not as interesting as some of the other characters still struggling to find their way.

Someone with more conflict in their lives would be more interesting. How about Lysaer?

By Julie on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 - 08:08 pm: Edit Post

But we do not know how the S'Illesid gift might influence Kevor's path as an adept. I was reminded that it was the Adepts who sent an appeal to Sethvir to invoke their "duty to the compact" when Lysear enslaved clan captives (thank you Janny!). They safeguard the knowledge and connection to the prime force and emulate the Paravians. This does not mean that they are totally divorced from the doings of mankind, or that they do not act from their own conscience.

Thanks for posting the interesting snap on the facebook and twitter page Janny.

All those clues we cannot read, but there are some very unusual looking mountains in that sketch.

I've seen it Janny #almostpeedmypants

By Janny Wurts on Friday, July 11, 2014 - 08:27 am: Edit Post

I will tell you that the sketch is the Stacks, located in the easternmost waste of Scarpdale, and that you will go there in Ch I.

Mark: I almost sprayed my keyboard, reading that; :-) and if you saw the (earlier) pic of my study, where Athera herself is created - I do NOT want to mess up this keyboard! Don found it in a mail order catalog and I am rather fond of the feel of it.

Anyone else wish they could reach out and grab that stack of paper ;)

By Janny Wurts on Friday, July 11, 2014 - 11:31 am: Edit Post

Oh, yeah, it puts a whole new spin on the recent articles on 'delivery drones.' Luckily in this house, if you have an interesting stack of paper, a cat sits on it the INSTANT you make it a focus of attention.

I had to kick Brynli out of that photo three times. And if I left it on the floor unattended, somebody would rumpus or sharpen their claws on that spreadsheet. Or rub/gnaw the crap out of the corners of the manuscript stack.

Life with Bengals.

It's a good day when a book manuscript gets far enough along that it is TOO HEAVY to knock off the shelf. They do that, too, to make you yell while you're on the phone.

Up for air - lots of dots connect in the scene on the page. Big Dots, with BIGGER to come. Ah, the rush of the downslide gaining momentum, at last.....

By Annette on Saturday, July 12, 2014 - 07:55 am: Edit Post

Definitely want to grab that stack of paper, but thanks for letting us know the location of the sketch Janny. Save me going nuts trying to get it readable. The chapter titles I will now drive myself nuts trying to get readable.

Fortunately my two cats behave themselves and leave my stuff alone, they just come in and occasionally ask for some attention, or carefully watch what I am up to. But they stay on the carpet, my feet, or sit on the stool next to me.
