I was wondering if anyone else is enjoying this series. I'm reading the books at the moment on my kindle (lots of irritating typo errors). My son is reading them too and we're pretty impressed with how the t.v. version is going so far.

Apart from the gratuitous sex scenes while one of the characters explains the plot that is.

I didn't think it was possible, but HBO actually added more sex to [A] Game of Thrones. I thought it was a little graphic and gratuitous before (but could understand the realism point), so I skimmed those particular passages.

The whole lesbian brothel thing with Littlefinger (and some disgustingly suggestive noises in the background) was waaay over the top, even for HBO (who seem to have a desperate need to be seen as racy), and reduced the series to porn. Too bad, as that just confirms a stereotype of fantasy as a teeanger's wet dream.

I've stopped watching, despite some excellent acting and casting work.

I agree entirely about the brothel scene and we felt the scene between Renly and Loras was totally unneccessary. Sadly a lot of programmes seem to think sex scenes are vital to draw in viewers. This series has no need of them, as the acting and adaptation is excellent.
I shudder to think what treatment WOLAS would get.It would probably focus on Dakar's exploits with his various doxies and ignore everything else!
Such a shame.

I don't think Game of Thrones is quite that bad. Added sex scenes and all that, they don't really matter to me as long as the plot and characters stay intact. ...Renly and Loras, well, the whole fandom thinks they're gay already, so... XD

If GRRM himself approves of all this, then I see no reason to complain about the show. It means that ASOIAF hasn't gone off the edge yet and still works within the boundaries the author has set for the story.

...It's really too bad David Eddings was anti-movies. I would have loved to see the Belgariad/Malloreon and Elenium/Tamuli made into film series, but since Dave didn't allow that... oh well.

That scene with the girls was actually a new girl failing totally at what she's supposed to be doing and eventually being corrected. There was no desire involved on anyone's part, just the business side of things in a brothel, which makes that scene feel like a natural part of that world and makes it interesting. So I don't really mind the sex scenes because they feel natural to that world.

I'm really addicted to this series and threw a howling fit when the 2nd episode for this third season ended in bad cliffhangers for a couple of characters DESPITE my knowing how it works out because I've read all the books so far. Later, I had a long laugh at myself over that.

I'd worship the ground Polgara walked on if they made those David Eddings movies, hehe she was awesome.
