Just finished Shadowmarch by Tad Williams, I thought the 1st 100 pages were slow, but after that it was great. Next a reread of To Ride Hell's chasm while I'm waiting for Traitor's knot to arrive.

I also get up at 5:30 Trys and wrote that early in the morning when I left out the comma LOL that will teach me to write on here that early but I'm here again bright and early. I hope you love Jane Fancher all of you who are going to read her. She's great read and you'll love her. She's better then just something to read while you wait for other books. Her's are the books to wait for to read too. Also I'd recommend Joanne Bertin while I'm at it. The third book in that series is even longer wait then Jane Fanchers. I keep hoping it will be out soon though.

On Pre-ordering...

After receiving a head's up that Sharon Lee and Steve Miller's next Liaden (A FANTASTIC SF Series which I highly recommend) book "Crystal Soldier" is coming out around the same time as Traitor's Knot, I thought I would look at pre-ordering them from MM.

(I also realised there was another Liaden book I haven't read ... Balance of Trade ... because it's not on shelves here in Canada - so I looked at ordering it too.)

Looking at the estimated cost of the 3 books, via Meisha Merlin...$103. US ($125 Canadian approx)

Cost in Canada. $72.

The shipping is the killer. I think I'll be ordering via the Canada side.

February of course is going to bring some fantastic reading - in addition to the above mentioned books, there's also Destoyer by Cherryh and The Soul Weaver by Carol Berg coming out - all in the same month.

Gad - not that I am complaining (As If!!!!!) but 4 hardcovers in the same month?????

Oh, as an add on - Harry Potter Six is coming out July 16th...they just announced it this morning.

I got a "blurb" read of Lee and Miller's new one - Crystal Soldier - and it's a Wow....I do recommend their works as wonderful if you aren't already hooked.

I also got a blurb read of Julie Czerneda's newest finished - Species: Migration. It's another fun ride! Another to be highly recommended.

You guys have some great stuff to look forward to.

The cover to Migration is on Julie's website... (

Wow. Having lived in Vancouver, it's even more striking. I can even point to the building (Er, ruin of a building) that I took one of my MBA classes in!

I will have to check out this Lee and Miller. I'll see if they have anything on Crystal Soldier at Amazon thanks. Glad Julie has a new one too. I love Summoned to Destiny by the way. The stories in their are really good so far.

Glad you are liking it Cheryl -

The second one in Julie's YA Fantasy Anthology series, "Fantastic Companions" (The one with Janny's story) should be out in the spring also!

As for the Lee and Miller books, my recommendation on the first to read is "Agent of Change"

Thanks Sandtiger I'll look for it. I hope it's in the US now. That's a great title and I can't wait to read your story and Janny's. That's another thing to look forward to after Christmas. Wanted to say that I was at Sharon Shinn's reading. I went to it by mistake thinking Janny's panel was later, grin and I loved her reading. It's a book coming in March. I forget the title but it was really good. I think that will be where I start reading her books. I did catch Janny's panel the last half hour thank goodness. I don't know where my head was at but in my defense it was kind of confusing how they wrote out that convention schedule. grin

I've just bought the new Thomas Covenant book, speculatively titled "The last chronicles of Thomas Covenant".. Book 1 of course!

Hope it is not as depressing as the second chronicles when lots of bad things happened to good characters..
